The Sustainable Plant Protection Laboratory, EdeLab, at Université Laval is recruiting candidates
for three PhD positions at the intersection of plant pathology, entomology, evolution, genomics,
microbiology, and climate-change biology.
Candidate profile
Applicants must be eligible for admission to the PhD program in Plant Biology at Université Laval.
A completed master’s degree, or its equivalent, in a relevant discipline is normally required before
beginning the program.
Depending on the selected project, relevant backgrounds may include plant pathology,
entomology, microbiology, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, genomics, bioinformatics,
ecology, or related disciplines. Candidates are not expected to arrive with experience in every
method associated with their project.
We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:

• Interest in presenting their research at scientific conferences.

• Strong written and spoken English.
Knowledge of French is an important asset, and bilingual candidates are particularly encouraged
to apply. EdeLab operates as a bilingual laboratory, while Université Laval is a French-language
university. The PhD program is officially offered in French, although flexibility may be possible for
research activities and some program requirements. A limited number of course credits may still
need to be completed in French.
