Deadline: Mar 09, 2026
Details
ob description
We are seeking a PhD-level researcher with an interest in atmospheric turbulence. The work involves performing fluid dynamics calculations to address fundamental questions about atmospheric turbulence, specifically related to wind shear and mass transport. The role also includes studying the influence of turbulence on the global general circulation, for example how it affects extreme winds. Most of the work concerns numerical experiments, but also includes analyses of observational data. The research is conducted in an interdisciplinary environment together with scientists at the Department of Meteorology, Stockholm University, within the Bolin Centre for Climate Research.
Qualifications
Requirements
A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in fluid mechanics, meteorology or another relevant field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
Ability to formulate and carry out independent research projects, as well as to participate constructively in collaborations.
Ability to communicate research and research findings effectively, both in writing and orally.
Preferred qualifications
A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
Documented experience in research based on the application and development of global weather prediction or climate models, as well as a solid understanding of atmospheric turbulence and momentum transport.
Experience in turbulence simulations on GPU architectures.
Competence in AI/ML.
Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender.
