Details
We are looking for someone to work on the PHOENIX project with us. The
PHOENIX project aims to improve the ICON climate and weather simulation
code (https://www.icon-model.org/), which is used in Germany and in many
other weather forecast centers worldwide. Our group focuses on accelerating
and improving the ICON code using high-performance computing methods.
More specifically, we are looking into on-the-fly compression methods and
alternative low-precision number formats.
The team is affiliated with the Technical University of Munich, in the
Bildungscampus in Heilbronn, Germany.
Must have
- C++ coding skill (object-oriented programming, templates)
- Experience in high-performance computing
- Knows version control (git) and continuous integration
Best with
- Experience with the research direction
- on-the-fly compression
- alternative precision formats
- Understands Fortran code
- Climate simulation or CFD knowledge
