Open call for a postdoc position in the NCN Opus grant “Quantum GTA I: Groups, Topology and Algebras

Open call for a postdoc position in the NCN Opus grant Quantum GTA I: Groups, Topology and Algebras Institute of Mathematics PAS announces a competition for a two-year postdoctoral position within the NCN OPUS grant “Quantum GTA I: Groups, Topology and Algebras led” by prof. Adam Skalski. Application deadline: March 1st, 2026 (23:59 CET) Expected date of employment: October 1st, 2026 Terms of employment: 1. Full-time position. 2. Employment period: 24 months. 3. Monthly salary approximately: 9 700 PLN gross. 4. Place of work: Warsaw. Required qualifications: 1. PhD in mathematics obtained prior to commencement of employment, not earlier than 1st of January, 2018. 2. Experience in operator algebras 3. Fluency in English. 4. Knowledge of geometric group theory and/or quantum group theory will be an asset. Task description: The main aim of the project is to investigate approximation properties and structure of state spaces of operator algebras, especially these related to quantum groups (but also the classical ones), and to apply and interpret the results obtained within quantum probability and quantum information theory. Required documents: 1. CV with a list of publications. 2. A cover letter (maximum 2 pages) describing the candidate’s research interests and experience and their relevance to the project topic. 3. A recommendation letter (to be sent independently to the address a.skalski@impan.pl). 4. Signed statement on the processing of personal data in connection with recruitment. 5. A copy of the diploma confirming doctoral degree (or equivalent), or a document confirming the date of obtaining the PhD degree. The selection of the candidates will be made by the committee with project’s leader as its chair within 30 days of the closing date. If there are no suitable candidates, the competition may remain undecided.
