Master’s and PhD position in simulation of Fluid, and Structure interactions in hydraulic Turbines*
Laval University
Canada
Details
We are looking for motivated Master’s and PhD students to join our research team at the Hydropower Innovation Center (HEKI) at Université Laval. These fully funded positions are part of MD-Francis, a five-year collaborative research initiative involving four universities and six industrial partners. The objective of the project is to characterize the impact of anomalies on the operation of hydraulic turbines.
Project Overview
During your graduate studies, you will develop novel numerical methods applied to fluid–structure interactions (FSI) in hydraulic turbines.
Project Highlights
Integration of theory, experiments, data analysis, and machine learning
Collaboration within an international and interdisciplinary research environment
💡 Ideal Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or physics engineering (or equivalent)
Strong background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
Knowledge of fluid–structure interactions (FSI) and turbomachinery
Programming experience
Curious, motivated, and collaborative mindset
