We are pleased to announce the multidisciplinary summer school and research stay “CEMRACS 2026 – Modeling and AI for Environmental Transition”, to be held at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM) in Marseille.
CEMRACS 2026 is aimed at PhD students, advanced master’s students, and junior researchers, and will focus on mathematical and statistical modeling and artificial intelligence applied to key challenges in:
environmental and energy economics,
actuarial science,
sustainable finance,
ecology,
and climatology.
The event consists of:
a one-week summer school (July 13–17, 2026), followed by
a five-week research session (July 20 – August 21, 2026),
during which participants will work in small groups on research projects supervised by senior researchers.
Participants may attend only the summer school, or both the summer school and the research session (the latter subject to selection).
Summer school courses
· Mathematical modeling for biodiversity — M. Barbier
· Mathematical modeling for climate: stochastic dynamics, extreme events, large deviations — F. Bouchet
· Climate risks, insurance, insurability, and rare events — O. Lopez
· Machine learning for climate change — C. Monteleoni
· Computational and AI methods in climate economics — S. Scheidegger
